Kubernetes training courses are everywhere. Most teach you how to deploy a pod and call it done. Enterprise teams need something different โ workshops that address the reality of running Kubernetes in production, at scale, in regulated environments where downtime has consequences and audit findings have teeth.
Here's how I design and deliver Kubernetes workshops for enterprise teams that need to go beyond kubectl apply.
Why Generic Kubernetes Training Fails Enterprises
The gap between "I can deploy a container" and "I can run a production Kubernetes platform" is enormous. Generic training misses:
- Multi-tenancy: Most courses use single-namespace examples. Enterprises need namespace strategies, resource quotas, network policies, and RBAC across dozens of teams.
- Security hardening: Default Kubernetes is not secure. Pod security standards, network policies, secret management, image signing โ none of this appears in beginner courses.
- Compliance requirements: Running Kubernetes in financial services, healthcare, or critical infrastructure means audit logging, pod security policies, supply chain security, and evidence generation.
- Day-2 operations: Upgrades, backup/restore, disaster recovery, monitoring, cost management โ the boring stuff that determines whether your platform survives.
- GitOps and platform engineering: How Kubernetes fits into the broader Internal Developer Platform, not just as an isolated container runtime.
Workshop Modules
Module 1: Kubernetes Architecture for Production (Half Day)
Beyond the basics โ how to architect Kubernetes for enterprise workloads:
- Control plane design: High availability, etcd topology, API server sizing
- Node architecture: Node pools, taints and tolerations, topology spread constraints
- Networking: CNI selection (Cilium, Calico, Flannel), service mesh considerations, ingress architecture
- Storage: CSI drivers, storage classes, persistent volume strategies for stateful workloads
- Multi-cluster: When and how to run multiple clusters โ fleet management, federation, service mesh across clusters
Hands-on lab: Design a production cluster architecture for a given business scenario. Present and defend architecture decisions to peers.
Module 2: Security and Compliance (Half Day)
The module most enterprise teams need most:
- Pod security standards: Restricted, baseline, and privileged profiles โ when to use each
- RBAC design: Role hierarchy, service account management, least-privilege patterns
- Network policies: Default-deny, namespace isolation, egress control
- Secret management: External secret operators, vault integration, sealed secrets
- Image security: Admission controllers, image signing (Cosign/Sigstore), vulnerability scanning in CI/CD
- Audit logging: Kubernetes audit policy configuration, log aggregation, compliance reporting
- Policy-as-code: OPA/Gatekeeper and Kyverno for enforcing organizational policies
Hands-on lab: Harden a deliberately insecure cluster. Implement network policies, pod security, RBAC, and audit logging. Validate with a security scanning tool.
Module 3: GitOps and Continuous Delivery (Half Day)
- GitOps principles: Declarative desired state, Git as source of truth, continuous reconciliation
- ArgoCD deep dive: Application management, ApplicationSets, sync policies, multi-cluster management
- Progressive delivery: Canary deployments, blue-green deployments, feature flags with Argo Rollouts or Flagger
- Secrets in GitOps: Sealed Secrets, External Secrets Operator, SOPS โ keeping secrets out of Git while keeping GitOps pure
- Compliance integration: How GitOps provides audit trail, change evidence, and approval workflows for regulated environments
Hands-on lab: Set up a complete GitOps pipeline with ArgoCD. Implement a canary deployment with automated rollback. Generate compliance evidence from Git history.
Module 4: Day-2 Operations (Half Day)
- Monitoring and observability: Prometheus, Grafana, and alerting strategy. What to monitor and what to alert on (they're not the same).
- Cluster upgrades: In-place vs. blue-green cluster upgrades, API deprecation handling, addon management
- Backup and disaster recovery: Velero, etcd backup, application-level backup, RTO/RPO targets
- Cost management: Resource requests and limits strategy, cluster autoscaler tuning, spot/preemptible nodes, cost visibility
- Troubleshooting: Systematic approach to debugging Kubernetes issues โ pods, networking, storage, performance
Hands-on lab: Diagnose and fix a series of realistic cluster problems. Perform a cluster upgrade. Simulate and recover from a disaster scenario.

Available Formats
- 2-Day Intensive: All four modules delivered over two consecutive days. Best for teams that can dedicate focused time. 60% hands-on, 40% instruction.
- 4-Week Sprint: One module per week, half-day sessions. Allows teams to apply learnings between sessions. Includes homework assignments and office hours.
- Custom Track: Select specific modules and customize content for your technology stack, cloud provider, and regulatory requirements.
- On-Site or Remote: All formats available in person (Amsterdam/EU) or remote with dedicated lab environments.
Who Should Attend
- Platform engineers building or operating Kubernetes platforms
- DevOps engineers deploying applications to Kubernetes
- SRE teams responsible for Kubernetes reliability
- Security engineers hardening container platforms
- Tech leads and architects designing Kubernetes-based architectures
Prerequisites: Basic Kubernetes knowledge (pods, deployments, services, namespaces). This is not a Kubernetes 101 course โ it's for teams ready to go to production.

Start on Pluralsight โWhat Makes These Workshops Different
- Production-focused: Every example comes from real production environments, not toy demos
- Compliance-aware: Regulatory requirements (DORA, NIS2, ISO 27001) integrated into every module, not bolted on as an afterthought
- Hands-on heavy: At least 50% of time is spent in lab environments solving real problems
- Customizable: Content adapted to your cloud provider (AWS EKS, Azure AKS, GCP GKE, on-prem), your tools, and your regulatory context
- Post-workshop support: 30 days of follow-up support for questions that arise when applying learnings to your environment
