How the CRA Changes AI Infrastructure Requirements for Enterprises

The Cyber Resilience Act doesn't just regulate products — it reshapes the infrastructure that builds, deploys, and monitors them. Here's what AI infrastructure teams need to change.

Most CRA coverage focuses on product manufacturers. But if your enterprise builds AI-powered products — or uses digital products in regulated contexts — the CRA fundamentally changes your infrastructure requirements. This isn't a legal problem. It's a platform engineering problem.

Infrastructure Requirements the CRA Creates

  • Vulnerability detection pipeline — 24-hour reporting means you need automated vulnerability scanning running continuously, not quarterly
  • SBOM generation at build time — Every CI/CD pipeline must produce a Software Bill of Materials as a build artifact
  • Secure update delivery — Infrastructure to push security patches to deployed products with verification and rollback
  • Audit trail infrastructure — Immutable logging of every security-relevant event across the product lifecycle
  • Conformity documentation — Auto-generated technical files from your development and testing pipeline

The Platform Engineering Response

Don't solve CRA compliance per-product. Build a platform that makes every product CRA-compliant by default:

  • Golden paths that include vulnerability scanning, SBOM generation, and security testing
  • Shared vulnerability management infrastructure across all products
  • Centralized reporting pipeline to ENISA
  • Template-driven conformity documentation

Why This Is an Infrastructure Partner Problem

Traditional security consultancies will audit your products. Traditional development teams will fix individual issues. But nobody builds the infrastructure that makes compliance sustainable at scale — the pipelines, the automation, the platforms. That's the gap an AI infrastructure partner fills.

The Cost of Getting It Wrong

Building CRA compliance manually for each product: 6-12 months and €200K+ per product. Building a CRA-compliant platform that all products inherit: 4-6 months and €300-500K total. The math is simple once you have more than two products.
